Beautiful Faces

One of the things I find very consistent and beautiful in Baja are it's children. Here are a few of the faces captured up until now.

Blogging Is Not Always Easy

Some of you may think "blogging" is easy, but as you can see it also takes prayer! Doug and Carla had us to their boat "Moondance" for happy hour last night and after, or was it during, Carla gave Fern and I a lesson. Carla is a great and very patient teacher and I don't even want to think about her leaving La Paz.

Steve Goes Fishing

Look what Steve gaffed (not to be confused with hooked)Wednesday! These Yellow Tail were pretty darned delicious! We still have some in the freezer so come on over for some fish tacos!

More Hummingbird

Steve is getting some fantastic shots of "our" baby. Baby is 17 days old now and is soooooooo cute. In this picture we figure that half of that beak is down in that baby!
Notice that second egg is still un-hatched.

We're Parents!

We weren't sure our hummingbird's eggs would hatch because the mama chose such a hot spot for her nest, but they have! Doug was over today and "peeked" in the nest to find one of the two eggs hatched. Half of the egg is pictured in my hand.
Hungry, hungry, hungry!

Second Ana-ual Flan Cook-Off

Great turn out for the Second Ana-ual Flan cook-off. Twenty-six friends, one salty flan, 14 sweet flans and a sugar high that should keep us going til next year! The winner? Well, no one wanted first prize!

A Trip To Italy

Three lovely young women all the way from Bologna, Italy have settled in La Paz and opened a restaurant called Dalle Regazza

While the food was very Italian, the wine well priced and delicious, the ambiance won the prize! When we arrived, we were greeted at the door and led to an outdoor sitting area which had chairs and coffee table on a carpet, right on the sand! Here we sat enjoying our wine and appetizers while listening to the water and sea birds behind us. After a couple bottles of wine (there were six of us, afterall) we were told that when we were ready and not until then to come in the house where our table awaited us and we would be served dinner.

Overall a little pricey for Mexico but a very pleasant experience.

We're Expecting!

This hummingbird, we've been told it's an Anna, decided to put her nest on our awning! Our heat sensor has registered up to 112 degrees under that blue tarp so we are not sure if they won't cook!
The eggs are the size of a pea!
You can see where Steve taped the hole in her nest so the eggs wouldn't roll out.

Chico Zapote

A most extraordinary fruit! Kinda ugly to look at but, as you can see below, quite pretty inside. The flavor is unlike anything we have had before and very sweet. Apparently the Chico Zapote has a very short season and must be eaten when very ripe otherwise it is very astringent with alot of tannins and quite nasty!

Breakfast anyone?
